The “Programme d’études sur l’usage des TIC dans les migrations” (TIC-Migrations, “the Program for the Study of the Use of Information and Communication Technologies [ICTs] in Migrations”), directed by Dana Diminescu, is a research program exploring the impact of new technologies on the world of migrants (paths, personal connections, relations with origin and host countries, etc.).
Today, the program consists of a Scientific Director (Dana Diminescu), an R&D Director (Mathieu Jacomy), a Research Engineer (Matthieu Renault), and a Research Fellow (Mehdi Bourgeois). It relies directly on a corps of twenty researchers who help to define its subjects, and on a network of “associated researchers” from various disciplines, laboratories, and countries.
The TIC-Migrations program conducts its work under the auspices of the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, Paris (FMSH Paris, a social science research organization). It brings together researchers and experts from multiple professions (sociologists, geographers, political scientists, as well as engineers, information specialists, and computer scientists), locations (French researchers and foreigners), and institutions (CNRS researchers, private actors, non-profit workers, etc.).
